About the Opportunity

Jnana therapeutics is seeking a Research Associate to join our expanding biochemistry and biophysics group.  This individual will play a central role in developing biophysical capabilities for both early and mature projects in the Jnana pipeline.  The successful candidate will have experience in protein science and purification, and the drive to learn new experimental techniques on the job.

You are a highly motivated, creative and collaborative individual with a strong enthusiasm for experimental research.  You have a strong desire for truth seeking and exploration of novel biology though the application of molecular and chemical biology techniques as well as pharmacological interrogation.  You are keen to develop novel assays to the assessment of mechanism and pharmacology.  A strong desire to learn in a growth environment is essential.  Jnana is committed to the training and development of our talent, and you will have many opportunities to develop new skills.   • Expression of recombinant protein from bacterial or mammalian cells.
  • Protein purification via liquid chromatography, to support downstream biochemical or biophysical assays.
  • Routine cell culture of mammalian cell lines.
  • Construct design and cloning of recombinant genes
  • Take part in the development and running of novel enzymatic, target engagement, and protein-protein interaction assays.
  • Perform independent data analysis and interpretation, to support outlining of next steps.
  • Clearly document and communicate research outcomes to colleagues at team-level and company-level science meetings.
  • Maintain a safe and productive laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Past Experience

  • Minimum of BSc in Biology, or other relevant area. More advanced roles can be considered for MS candidates or those with additional experience.
  • Experimental background in protein science, purification, and biochemistry.
  • Cell culture experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities, as well as operate across scientific disciplines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including thorough documentation in a laboratory notebook.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, able to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.
  • Must be a scientifically motivated self-starter, able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
