Bioanalytical Research Associate (Technology Development)

Position Description

Jnana Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Associate to work within our Technology Development group performing mass spectrometry based bioanalytical experiments. The ideal candidate is creative, hardworking, and adept in the art of mass spectrometry.   Responsibilities include developing and running bioanalytical methods and assays in support of several discovery stage programs. Prior experience in drug discovery is preferred, bioanalytical experience required. Strong commitment and good work ethic are essential. Levels can be flexible based on experience.


  • Build a variety of methods to quantify small molecules and metabolites from various biological matrices
  • Prepare samples for general bioanalytical and ADME experiments for mass spectrometry-based analysis
  • Perform routine maintenance on mass spectrometers and liquid chromatography systems to ensure they are operating at peak performance
  • Identify and address instrumentation problems as well as coordinate on-site service support when necessary
  • Efficiently generate, analyze and present data reports to project teams as well as upload to internal database
  • Continuous self-improvement and drive towards innovation


  • BS with at least 2 years related experience in the contract research or pharmaceutical industry
  • Familiar with automation and liquid handlers such as Tecan
  • Self-starter and eager to learn new skills and techniques
  • Experience with both Thermo Fisher and Agilent instrumentation/software is desirable
  • Work well both independently as well as in a team-based environment
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
  • Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
