Associate Scientist/Scientist (Chemistry)

Jnana Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on modulating cellular metabolism by opening the solute carrier (SLC) family of metabolite transporters as a target class to develop transformational therapeutics. Jnana uses RAPID, its proprietary, cell-based drug discovery platform to systematically target SLC transporters and develop best-in-class therapies to treat a wide range of diseases, including immune-mediated, neurological, and metabolite-dependent diseases. Headquartered in Boston, Jnana is founded by world-renowned scientists and backed by leading life science investors. For more information, please visit and follow us on Twitter and on LinkedIn.

Jnana Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated platform chemist to support the expansion of RAPID, our novel and proprietary hit generation platform. Through small molecule screening using the RAPID platform, and a range of cell-based assays, our research aims to expand our understanding of SLC transporter biology and ultimately discover drugs modulating these proteins. Small molecule and probe/tool synthetic chemistry experience is necessary. Strong commitment and good work ethic are essential. Level can be flexible based on experience.

  • Contribute to building and expanding an innovative screening platform for drug discovery.
  • Utilize synthetic expertise to design and execute synthesis of reactive affinity probes (RAPs).
  • Collaborate with medicinal and computational chemistry colleagues to design and optimize novel RAPs.
  • Proactively engage in brainstorming and the generation of new ideas across the Research organization.
  • Coordinate compound management requests by facilitating the timely delivery of screening compounds across multiple locations.
  • Oversee the storage, curation and tracking of the internal compounds
  • Work collaboratively within a diverse team of scientists.

  • B.S./M.S. in Chemistry or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field; title will be determined by degree and years of industry experience as a synthetic chemist.
  • Preferred experience with labeling chemistries, library design, and general Chemical Biology methodologies.
  • Highly organized, detailed-oriented with excellent communication skills.
